  • Fisheries and Wildlife

I am a first year student with interests in technology, journalism, political advocacy, and most relevantly wildlife biology. As a lifelong animal lover, I want to apply my fisheries and wildlife major to hands-on projects that can help me to appreciate and protect the biodiversity of species; With my intended sociology minor, I want to understand the human dimensions of these issues as well as other social problems that affect our lives. In addition to gaining the skills needed to engage with the wildlife sciences directly, I seek to learn enough about the issues that people are facing to become an effective advocate.

Support the Conservation Scholars Program

The Conservation Scholars Fund directly supports students who are pursuing a career in conservation through the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at the University of Washington. Effective conservation strategies are inclusive, involving a diversity of stakeholders and incorporating multiple values. Yet, the conservation community does not reflect the collective voice of our country. Without a significant, serious and immediate increase in diversity and inclusion, the conservation community will become a movement of the past instead of a guiding principle of the future. Our program aims to change that.
